The Guides
Skye Adventure is run by Matt Barratt and John Smith. As we both live on the Isle of Skye, we have extensive local knowledge and a passion for sharing great adventures. We are lucky to have some great guides working for us - all of whom are highly qualified, very experienced and great craic.
Matt Barratt
Co-founder Matt has been living and guiding in the North West Highlands for 20 years since completing his Outdoor Education degree at St. Martin's College in Ambleside. His CV is crammed with exciting adventures, leading expeditions everywhere from Spitzbergen to Siberia; Kyrgyzstan to the Congo.
John Smith
After realising he wasn’t a man for indoor pursuits, John left the world of architecture for the great outdoors 10 years ago and hasn’t looked back. He loves the sea and has led the charge with establishing coasteering on the Island.
Sarah Sutton
Sarah initially came on board to manage enquiries, so if your message from us is properly punctuated and spell-checked, then it’s from her. She’s now our business manager, coasteerer-in-chief, sure-footed and fearless, and sports a year-round wetsuit tan. One year she spent so much time in the sea, a barnacle grew on her wetsuit!
Jordan Young
Jordan is an absolute stoker! A passionate runner and climber with a keen eye for a photograph, he's a member of the local mounatin rescue team and when he's not at work, loves to be in the Cuillin exploring new lines. He’s a thoroughly lovely chap, great crack and owns some of the wildest items of fashion you’ll ever lay eyes on.
Ilana Patterson
You'll most likely find Ilana holding it down at our Climbing wall - Third Ridge or guiding a water adventure. She showed huge natural talent on our Couch to Cuillin programme before completing an outdoor studies course at UHI. Happiest when running, on her mountain bike or charging on the shinty pitch.
